why Twitch’s design works for them.

Twitch’s design is very straight forward, yet fun and intriguing. To start off, I’d like to talk about the UX design of Twitch. UX design is more about the functionality and a website. The goal here is to make life easier for the consumer, in which you want them to be able to navigate your website easily enough to find what they are looking for with as few questions and customer service as possible. Twitch dominates this aspect, in which their assortment is categorized and organized very efficiently. On the home page, it is set up similarly to YouTube, in which there are recommended channels to watch that are currently streaming live. At the top of the page, you will see an advertisement that is for a monetized game, and yet on the side you will still see recommended channels to follow that may not necessarily be live, but may have a large following which is an indicator for quality content. As you scroll down the homepage, they still give you recommended channels, however it is broken up by category, similarly to Netflix. If you are still unsure of what to watch, the search button is at the top and there are a few tabs to press on the top left corner, in which you can find whatever you’re looking for alphabetized chronologically. Finally, the help and support center is in the same browse tab, but just located at the bottom and differentiated by a divider for easy access. The next design to talk about is the UI design, in which here we’re focusing more on the aesthetically pleasing aspects of a website. The goal is to make your website look good to where a first-time consumer would actually want to navigate through it. Twitch does a great job of that by having a solid white background and contrasting it to the millions of color schemes that game covers offer. Each category has an actual poster of the game, which can clash if twitch were to use a bolder background color. When you navigate through the about pages, you get a more in-depth article of who they are and its very entertaining to look at. Every tab you hover over also turns to a bright purple. Twitch has a perfect balance of artistic values and tactical values with their website.
